NAIROBI- Kenya Airways is set to launch direct flights between Kenya and the United States of America on October 28.
KQ flights from JKIA to John F Kennedy International Airport in New York will depart at 10:30pm every day.
The inaugural flight set for October 28, will be officiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta among other dignitaries.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala while speaking to Chams Media on Tuesday, said KQ's direct flights to America will be a major boost to Kenya's economy as many opportunities for business will be opened up.
"We are very proud that this Airline (Kenya Airways) opens up to the American market both for business and tourism. So let's all support it," Balala told Chams Media on Tuesday.
Direct flights from Nairobi to New York will take 15 hours, seven hours shorter than the the current flights.
United States is Kenya's largest source market for tourists.
Chams Media, led by Daring Abroad presenter Alex Chamwada, will cover the launch as well as the inaugural flight on October 28.
