The stage is set for this year’s Nelson Mandela Lecture. The 2018 lecture will be the 16th version of the event that brings together various dignitaries and South Africans in celebrating Africa’s most decorated leader.
The event, which is to be held in Wanderes Stadium in Johannesburg will bring close to 9,000 people together to address issues affecting South Africa, Africa, and the world.
The theme for this year’s commemoration is Renewing the Mandela Legacy and Promoting Active Citizenship in A Changing World.
The main speaker will be the 44th US President Barack Obama who made a stopover in Kenya for the inauguration of Sauti Kuu Foundation started by her sister Auma Obama in their home town of Kogello, Siaya County.
Nelson Mandela would have turned 100 years on 18th July had he been alive.
