Chams Media team landed safely in London on Saturday evening ahead of the first ever Global Disability Summit to be hosted in London by the UK and Kenyan governments among other stakeholders in the disability sector.
Led by our very own Founder and Chief Executive Officer Alex Chamwada, Chams Media will cover the Tuesday 24th July 22, 2018 event and produce exclusive features on the Global Disability Summit for KTN News. Also in the team here in London is Humphrey Odhiambo the lead cameraman and Justus Ndichu, the producer.
The Global Disability Summit will take place at the Olympic Park in London and will involve stakeholders from various countries.
Kenya as the co-host has already sent a powerful delegation that includes Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Ukur Yatani, Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury Henry Rotich and Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure James Macharia.
The summit seeks to address the challenges, gaps and impediments in the disability sector.
Kenya has a total of 6.5 million persons with disability according to United Nations Convention whereas the World Bank Group estimates that 1 billion people worldwide have some form of disability.
This becomes the second international event in under a week that Chams Media in collaboration with KTN News will cover after the Nelson Mandela lecture officiated by former US President Barack Obama last week.
Chams Media presenter Alex Chamwada expressed his delight in covering the event which he believes will transform lives of Persons with Disabilities.
“We at Chams Media we take this event very seriously as one that will lead to transformation of the lives of Persons With Disabilities. We are honoured to be accredited to cover it. This is a major boost to what we are known for. Informative and inspiring content that transforms lives,” Chamwada said.
Chams Media will also be producing a post-summit special report on lessons from London on Disability inclusion.
